Rights guys i think that i now may know what the issue is...

It seems that our area as had an internet issue and vastly reduced speeds even more so when i use my vpn...

So there is a possibility that the shield is faulity.....

Yes i factory reset the shield and reinstalled with out the thumb drive fitted.......

The other two apps are weyd and wicked(iptv). I went into kodi settings to Disable hardware acceleration after doing some goggle searching... The addons are coalition, umbrella, fen, asgard. I have removed the weyd and wicked apps and the playback is still doing the same...... Only apps i have insta...

I have done a reset on the shield and im installing kodi and the your nexus build and see if that solves the issue...... I have kodi installed with the Nexus build and seema to be ok.. So i added two apps that i have used for years back onto the shield.. Now im back to links on nexus freezing again....

I have managed to get various links to play while trial and error etc.
The ones that do not play are most probably bad links that is my conclusion......

Removing the thumb drive doesnt help at all. One Kodi load up screen i get searching for external storage when the drive is unpluged.. I added siren to the addons and i got a video to play for 15secs and then that crashed.. Do.other apps.on the shield cause issues with Kodi like tvimate, iptv smarte...

"Lol, didnt mean it like that, im just saying the thumbdrive is the only thing thats different, and thumb drives arent the most dependable to use for internal storage. SSDs are recommended." I didnt take that way either🤣. I am stumped as to why this is happening but then again I am.not tha...

Well it was not obvious to me but i will try later and see what happens..
