Well first of all, you said yourself that you turned on caching settings to buffer all filesystems, which means you are making it use more ram right there. So delete any advanced settings and go to Kodi settings/services caching and set that to defaults also. Then try rebooting Kodi and ...

I do not use advanced settings as you said it is not always the best idea to do so.

I do get the occasional kick outs as well as buffering and when I check RAM it has gone way down to about 401MB and as soon as I go out of Kodi and come back it is up to around 1200MB then just ...

Every time i go to system info on my Nvidia shield 2019 tv pro the free memory goes from 1290MB eg to 600MB in a couple of minutes.
