I recently bought a Fire Stick 4K for my grandparents and set up DiggzFlix on it to provide them with an easy-to-use device for watching movies. However, they have been experiencing a lot of crashes, freezing, and buffering issues. Sometimes, when they select a specific movie, the torrents don’t even load. Instead, the spinning wheel appears and continues indefinitely for several minutes. I’m not sure if this is caused by provider issues or if the device is simply freezing, but it’s making it difficult for them to use.
Today, I updated Kodi to the newest version of DiggzFlix with the updated skin, hoping it would resolve some of the problems. However, I ran into what might have been the issue all along. Whenever I browse through movies, Kodi freezes and then crashes. This only happens when navigating the movie selection, not when using the search function to find and play a movie. This behavior makes me suspect that the problem is related to either the GPU struggling with UI rendering or RAM limitations when processing large amounts of artwork and metadata.
Given these issues, I’m considering two possible solutions. The first option is to downscale the UI widgets and reduce the amount of artwork Kodi loads at once. The second option is to replace the Fire Stick 4K with an NVIDIA Shield TV (2017), which I can purchase at the same price I paid for the Fire Stick. If the Shield TV can provide a smoother Kodi experience, I will simply return the Fire Stick and make the switch.
Would you recommend upgrading from the Fire Stick 4K to the NVIDIA Shield TV (2017)? Based on the symptoms, do you think the crashes are caused by GPU overload, RAM limitations, or something else?

Re: Diggzflix on firestick 4K vs shield
Of course I would get the Shield, 10x better. Firestick 4K is useless with Kodi builds.Kingpatrick15 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 06, 2025 10:52 pm I recently bought a Fire Stick 4K for my grandparents and set up DiggzFlix on it to provide them with an easy-to-use device for watching movies.
