TV channels in SD only?

Hi,

Shield pro with Xenon Plus 2.1
Under TV guide all tv-channels, also the channels in the add on like Daddy live and The TV app, only play in SD.
As far as I can remember in 2.0 and Xenon older versions most tv-channels played in HD 720.
Other content like tv-shows and movies play in HD and/or 4K.
Is there a setting somewhere to get the TV channels back to HD?

Thanks!

That's the provider changed setting -obviously for lower bandwidth due to higher traffic.
Nothing we can do.

Thanks for your reply.
You mean the tv-channels streaming content provider right?
But do all tv-channels come from the same provider, regardless of the Kodi add on used? and if there is more then one, they all switched now to SD only?

Whatever you see now on SD is set by the addon provider to be SD.

Did some more testing.
Recently I switched the Shield to Wifi instead of wired ethernet.
I did the speed test and got enough throughput for 4K.
Series and movies played fine in HD.
So just now I switched back to hard-wired and the tv-channels played in 720 and 1080 HD again.
But now it gets more weird.
After that I switched the Shield back to Wifi and this time the tv-channels stayed in HD.
Between all the network switching I exit out of Kodi every time and killed it with the Android Task manager just to be sure.
So, not really an answer, but maybe somebody can benefit from this.

This could be explained if peeps unplug device & router for 5 minutes like we suggest on Live TV & Sports issues, it's not rare to get better connections.
