Xenon Plus Manual Cache Option Removed???

Post by Marcd5123 »

Hi everyone... I wanted to ask the community I've encountered an odd issue...I've got the latest 3.1 build and the latest Kodi build .

So I understand recently cache options have been made much more simplified under "advanced settings" which is great I have a Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 edition and a new LG 55" OLED C4 and ive chosen the 2GB+ setting.

However ☝️... before I believe build ver 3.1 their was a manual section under "Services" section they medium to advanced user could tweak our own manual settings which I loved to use and experiment a little .

I've looked and looked and it's vanished. Now some folks have suggested that I do a complete re-install of the build in the hope it reappears ???..

The entire build works absolutely beautifully well !...I would rather not have to do all that as I've independently tweaked all the addons to my liking and I've also added some of my own super favourites as well.

I was rather hoping it's in a "Hidden" menu or just been placed somewhere else 🤔👀.

Or has it just been removed period and we only have the simplified RAM settings now under 3.1 .

I've taken a several screenshots to show how it looks .

If it's the case sadly I will have to perform a complete reinstall of the build then I'll most likely just wait for the major update later down the line it's it's not and emergency but I had had EE Full Fibre Installed recently in my flat and I would like to take more advantage of the higher throughput by manually increasing the buffer size a bit more.

Please advise many thanks 🙏🙂.

Hmm shows up for me. You could try switching the skin to default Estuary and check if it shows up, but not sure why its not for you. Maybe your using a Kodi fork? I dunno.

Also, be sure the Settings Level at the bottom left is set to Expert, or it might not show.

Hi everybody thanks for the reply...🙂

To answer the questions to my questions lol ...

This is the proper Full 3.1 AIO Debrid build...I've only tweaked FEN Lite,Seren ,POV and Umbrella to manually show streams to 150GB as now I have 500 Full Firebire connection with EE it will stream on my Nvidia Shield Pro very happily using WiFi 50GB and 60GB streams....

Forgot to mention I've got a external NVMe 500GB SSD attached to the Shield Pro formatted as extra internal storage so I want to get the shield to utilise that space and less pressure on the WiFi router by increasing the cache size as I'm streaming a 4K movie a more balanced 50/50 approach. That's the idea 💡.

I have only add a few extra to the "Super Favourites"menu and always remembered never to delete anything from Super Favourites ☝️...As per the build guide.

I installed 3.1 from fresh when it came out and followed all the instructions and it installed perfectly fine .

So it's all been done correctly to the best of my knowledge. I have a very decent quality and one of the finest routers out their the Asus RT-AX86U Pro router running the lasted Merlin Firmware so I wanted to tweak the Shield/Kodi to run as efficiently as possible using the extra bandwidth.

Yes yes I here you guys screaming hard wire ...I don't want to and I get absolutely no issues using the WiFi...

The settings menu definitely set to "expert" I even double checked on that one and even toggled the button to see if it would clear it up ..have to admit never had this ..Or is this a weird bug or some sort ...

anyways so you guys recommend just re-load the skin or swap a skin to another one and then swap back and see if it clears it ...

The build works beautifully well so I don't want to screw anything up unnecessarily.

Thanks Guys 🙂👍.

I think its down to your kodi version.
the dev uses windows which can produce different results to other kodi apps.

Btw dont u dont need to do this.
I can stream 180gb movie with default cache settings. Not an issue of cache.

Ill agree with genobear, if you have such great equipment, then why would you want to mess with advanced settings in the first place? Its not going to do anything besides take up more ram and maybe show a bigger buffer bar. Ive never needed to use it as Kodi handles the cache to play anything by default. Its really only useful as a bandaid for spotty wifi or other issues.

I noticed I had the flavors icon back on xenon plus after I got the "ooops restore" notice recently. There are no flavors options available. Only an option to fix Xenon Plus. If you press it it still reloads with the flavors icon. Everything else seems normal as far as I can tell. Just an fyi.

Yea, that makes sense. Thats probably what happened. I forgot to add the latest xenon backup file. The old one was still in there and restored to the old one. Will be fixed in the next update.
