kindly help! kodi crashing
Hello
Ive been big fan and long time user of diggz xenon
Its gotten more confusing to me since the advanced settings have been changed. The only issue i can seem to figure out and fix is the following. I have the lastes xenon plus 4k build.
My girl will watch shows using umbrella. Then when i go to play a 4k file say 40-80g file kodi will crash and ill start it back up with zero issues. Ive tried all kinds of things. I even downloaded the crew wizard to use that advanced quick configure and tried jacking up the video cache size as back in they day that seemed to resolve my buffer issues. Ive tried adjusting that several times ive uninstalled and or disabled not used addons and stuff within xenon build and yet i continue to run into this issue!
I run newest version of kodi on sheild pro with fios internet hardwared to my nighthawk router and have the 1000 gig plan. I regularly and consistently have 250-500 or more download speed when running tests.
Can someone preferably the xenon developer maybe help and or advise, thanks

Re: kindly help! kodi crashing
Well, I would start by removing advanced settings and restart. Not sure what the obsession is with advanced settings. Its not needed, but people swear they need to use it. It causes more problems than it fixes. Advanced settings should only be used to compensate for internet issues, all it does is eat up more ram usage for no good reason.bjjshawn2017 wrote: Tue Nov 18, 2025 11:04 pm Hello

So click Delete Advanced Settings, and click reset to defaults in Kodi settings/Services/Caching and restart Kodi.

Re: kindly help! kodi crashing
Mr chef
Ive deleted the crew stuff and deleted advanced settings
Still have issue. Why do i have to restart kodi for it to stay running smooth and no lag?
The issue again is after a few shows are watched then i go to stream a 4k hdr file of 30gb even kodi crashes. I fire it back up and no issues untill next time. Any thoughts or good ideas
Whats next kindly...

So it looks like your using external storage on your Shield? Are you using a slow USB flash drive?

Re: kindly help! kodi crashing
Are you saying i can use a high speed usb flash drive to help with speed and performance and least resolve these issues im having on going? I am and only have been using and just my shield pro
Also i only use shield for kodi and youtube. Everything else has been uninstalled and shield settings adjusted for speed and performance including some developer tweaks

Re: kindly help! kodi crashing
I have a Shield and am not seeing any issue. Maybe the issue is whatever issue your making by messing with all these Developer settings. I have a Shield and am not seeing any issue. Maybe the issue is whatever issue your making by messing with all these Developer settings. You really didnt give much info to go by. What are you doing when its crashing? The log you posted has no info, any relevent errors would be at the very bottom of the log file not the top, and if it crashed and you reopened Kodi the relevent log would be at the very bottom of the kodi log_old.bjjshawn2017 wrote: Sat Nov 22, 2025 11:51 pm Are you saying i can use a high speed usb flash drive to help with speed and performance and least resolve these issues im having on going?
